Dominican School Stay [Batch 2000]

This review is based on my experience when I was elementary. I don't know whether it improved or became worse. [Batch2000]

User Reviews

Good Points #1 A lot of educational organized activities and events that will help the kids to grow on their potential talents, skills, and academic specialties.

#2 Continuos Spiritual and Religious Activities

#3 High Quality Education

#4 Good facilities and environment

#5 Still, some teachers threat their students like their own kids

#6 Class size during that time is 40-48. No shortage of classroom or teachers

#7 Easy to access school location
Bad Points #1 Unprofessional Barbaric Teachers still exist :
*One teacher threw me her keys and it hit on my head.
*One teacher continuously hit my classmate's head with a book for around 30mins.
*Some teachers asks for payment for xerox copies of exams - I wonder where our miscellaneous fees go.
*Even a nun- she ordered us to standup and align ourselves sideways then punched our abdomen just because we're noisy (our teacher was absent. so what do you expect from kids).

#2 All students needed to bring ALL their books and notebooks EVERYDAY. No lockers for students are available that time.

#3 In connection with #2 ,there's an unofficial service that we called "Tagabuhat" : utility men that offers lifting services to heavy bags so that kids won't need to carry their bags on their way up. Payment rages from 1k-1.5k/month that time. Pretty nice strategy.

#4 Student clubs are 100% useless that time. We are required to join atleast a club and pay P100 - attend 'the 1st and the last club meeting' then nothing afterwards..

#5 It's rarely parents will be involved on fruitful/sensible activities or organizations

#6 Some kids can go out the gate without their guardian/"sundo"

Dominican School

The good/bad points are based during our stay at Dominican School. A lot of parents I talked to felt shortchanged so as early as now they are planning to transfer to another school next SY (even if they just transferred to DS).

User Reviews

Good Points -School activities are set already
-ORGANIZED (esp during enrolment period but not well coordinated during field trips)
-COMPUTERIZED
-STIFF COMPETITION AMONG STUDENTS IN A CLASS (if u think ur child is ACADEMICALLY good, THINK AGAIN!,there are others in class who are as good if not better) I think its because of the hi ratio of students per class.
Bad Points -Almost 50 students per class (is it because they're not PAASCU accredited?)
-BIG BAG requirement ( students have to bring ALL their books and notebooks EVERYDAY *** i found out that they never use ALL the books/ntbks they bring but the teacher we talked to insisted they bring it anyway )
-SOME teachers dont have any concern at all (EVEN if their students accidentally pee/poo)
-PARENTS have to pay Maintenance fee or Lifter fee so their kids BIG BAGS can be carried or lifted-whichever is the case- to their respective floors (1K for lifter, 1500 for maintenance)
-Need to update some lessons on Grade I level
-Quizzes almost everyday from Tuesday - Friday until the Long Test exam & Periodic exam
